Numberwang is a deceptively simple trick-taking game with shared incentive bidding.
Before each hand, look at every player’s cards and bid how many tricks you expect them to take. Score points for bids that you hit exactly, and score bonus points if you can force other players to miss their bids. Everyone’s seen your cards, so trip them up with counterintuitive bids and surprising plays.
This new edition has updated rules and variants for 3, 4, or 5 players. Try it out with printable scoresheets!
Let’s play Numberwang!

In the 1930s, Duke University scientists Karl Zener, PhD, and J.B. Rhine, PhD, conducted a series of experiments to test subjects for extrasensory perception, also known as ESP. One of their most famous experiments involved a deck of cards designed by Zener: Rhine held up a card with the back facing the test subject and asked them to intuit the symbol on the face of the card.
This Experiment in Supersensory Perspicacity expands upon Zener and Rhine’s work. Instead of presenting individual cards, this clairvoyance aptitude test is enacted through a trick-taking game.

I brought a pack of 6 hot dogs to the cookout, but my partner brought a 12-pack of buns! No one wants to eat this pile of empty buns…
In Hot Dog, each card in the deck has two different values: the dog value and the bun value. Work with your partner to take tricks with both dogs and buns to fill your plate and score the most points. But your partner changes with every deal, and you may find yourself in a free-for-all!
